Are you planning a Spring Break vacation to someplace wonderful?
I'd love to revisit Napa and Sonoma Valley and spend a few days seeing the rolling hills and grape vines. In fact, the first time I ever went to Wine Country was on my honeymoon. My husband and I were driving through Northern California and spotted a sign telling us to turn this way for wine tasting. We were ready for a break and thought it would be really fun. The winery was actually located in monastery that looked like a medieval castle. We approached the huge wooden doors with heavy iron hinges with trepidation, half expecting a glowering man to open the door and chase us away! Instead a blond, Dolly Parton look-alike greeted us with a cheerful smile and welcomed us in. She told us about the history of this winery and yes, offered us a couple of tastings of their delicious wines.
It was a lovely stop and we ended up visiting several of beautiful vineyards and wineries that week. Some had picnic benches and sold cheese and bread, some were very regal and supplied wines to the wealthy, and some were simple lean-to shacks offering their wines in dixie cups! To this day when I buy some of the same wines I tasted on my honeymoon, I can still recall the peacocks on the lawn, the cheese tastings, the friendly vintners and what a beautiful place Wine Country was.
This week's newest products have a vacation spot to fit almost anyone's Spring Break dreams!
