COLIN JACKSON AT THE EUROPEAN INDOOR ATHLETICS
Great Britain's team are expected to get six medals at the European Indoor Championships and I think that is a very realistic target.

A host of British athletes have an excellent chance of winning a medal in Birmingham this weekend.

I think Nicola Sanders is our strongest gold medal prospect, she's bang in form and I fully expect her to go out and produce the goods in the 400m.

3,000m runners Lisa Dobriskey and Jo Pavey are running well, although distance running indoors can be notoriously tricky.

I've been keeping a close eye on Andy Turner during the indoor season and I think he's definitely capable of a medal in my old event, the 60m hurdles.

And he certainly impressed in his early heat by winning in 7.60 seconds

I also fully expect us to get two medals in the 60m sprint through Craig Pickering and Jason Gardener, as long as the birth of Jason's second child doesn't get in the way of his schedule!

Overall, Team GB has a youthful look which is ideal.

Indoors is always the best place to blood your new talent, especially when you've got a major championship every year to really strive for.

What we want to see this weekend is for all our young talent to improve, to run their season's best or a personal best.

But it's not all about the Brits, there's a raft of top notch European stars on show.

My tip is to look out for Slovenia's Jolanda Ceplak in the 800m as she is showing the form she produced when she broke the indoor world record.

Enjoy your weekend,

Colin
