BREAKING NEWS FROM MEDIAWEEK ONLINE

Comedy Central has created an original short-form Web/TV series in conjunction with Sony designed specifically to promote the company?s recently launched PlayStation 3 game console, reports Mike Shields. The new branded-entertainment series, Control Fr3aks, premiered on Comedy Central?s broadband site Motherload on Feb. 13 with a three-part episode. The series of shorts, which depict a pair of video game obsessed twenty-something roommates who frequently encounter the supernatural, will make the jump from the Web to TV on Feb. 21 with an original 60-second episode set to run during a commercial break on the long-running animated series South Park.
