ANDY NICOL ON THE SIX NATIONS
Scotland and Wales meet at Murrayfield after suffering contrasting defeats on the opening weekend of the 2007 Six Nations.

Scotland have reacted to their loss to England by making some good changes, especially in midfield, which I feel could pay dividends for them.

Everyone knows the Scots lack a bit of flair, but they are an honest, hard-working team that will show a lot of improvement in front of a passionate home crowd.

I'm not going to harp on about players that they are missing through injury, but Jason White's absence was very evident last Saturday. He gives them so much.

But the same can be said of Wales who are still without match-winning backs Shane Williams, Tom Shanklin and Gareth Thomas.

Without them against Ireland they failed to cross the try-line and for a team of their creativity it will be a huge source of disappointment for coach Gareth Jenkins and something they will rectify this weekend.

I put the kibosh on Italy last week by backing them to beat France.

I never thought in a month of Sundays that they would lose 39-3.

They had been steadily improving game on game, but they were abject.

I fear for them this weekend as they travel to a rejuvenated Twickenham and if the English pack play as well as they did against Scotland they could be on the end of a drubbing.

It's a momentous occasion in Dublin as Croke Park hosts a rugby union match for the first time and Ireland's encounter with France has the potential to be the match of the tournament.

It's going to be one hell of a game.

Enjoy,

Andy
