All You Need Is Love
The Chamber Music Ensemble Camarada
at Botanica (Little Italy)
Kick off the Month of Love by taking your Valentine to a romantic Candlelight concert at Botanica in Little Italy, featuring a champagne reception, hors d'oeuvres, flowing wine and the ever so popular music of the Beatles. Beth Ross-Buckley, flute; Fred Benedetti, guitar; and violinist Dave Buckley will be joined by teenage sensations Julia and Regina Benedetti, who will delight with their vocal talents. Enjoy a champagne reception at 6:30pm, followed by the 7pm concert. Afterward, meet the artists over another glass of wine (and then head for dinner at one of Little Italy's fine restaurants!)
Friday 7:00pm - $31.00 Available Now

Baroque Splendor
The Chamber Music Ensemble Camarada
at Neurosciences Institute (Torrey Pines)
In Bach's "D minor IBWV 1060," disparate tones of violin and flute dance and weave around each other in melancholic and serene adagio, surrounded by conflict and harmony in the urgent outer movements. Next is the incomparable voice of the solo cello in Bach's optimistic, soaring "Suite No. 3 in C Major." Vivaldi uses fluttering trills of the flute to bring us the song of the goldfinch in "Il Gardellino." Was Beethoven listening to Händel's "Sonata in F Major" when he declared him "the greatest composer who has ever lived"? In the "Sixieme Order," Couperin uses the harpsichord to spin tales of French country life: reapers, lovelorn sighs, chirping birds, mysterious barricades, and those village pests, the gossip and the fly. Hinting at the simpler textures of the classical style around the corner is the concerto in E minor by Telemann.

A very contemporary, very magical and very wacky new political satire with music by the masters of juggling and hilarity, The Flying Karamazov Brothers. This is the sparkling and evocative story of a most beloved dreamer. Don Quixote is a gentleman from La Mancha obsessed with the chivalrous ideals in books he has read. In a time when such things are long past, he decides to take up a lance and a sword to defend the helpless and destroy the wicked. This amazing production will include spectacular sword fights, endless disguises, Merlin the Magician, fortune tellers and much, much more. A celebration of the power of imagination.

Fiddler on the Roof
Welk Resort Theatre (Escondido)
Winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical, "Fiddler on the Roof" is one of the most heralded musicals of all-time. Tevye is an indomitable hard-luck dairyman living in the quaint Russian village of Anatevka in 1905. Oppressed and overworked, Tevye is lovable for his cheerful courage in the face of his troubles--which include his poverty, his sharp-tongued wife, and his three daughters of marriageable age for whom he can provide no dowries. Possessing one of the greatest Broadway scores, this beloved musical includes such songs as "If I were a Rich Man," "Matchmaker, Matchmaker," and "Sunrise, Sunset." Funny and wonderful, exuberant and touching, this show glows with magic!
Saturday 8:00pm - $28.00

Glengary Glen Ross
6th @ PENN Theatre (Hillcrest)
Note: There is language that may be offensive to some.
Pulitzer-Prize winning David Mamet play. "Like Willy Loman a generation earlier, Shelly Levene is the stark, dead-end reality of the American dream. And like the Willy of Arthur Miller's "Death of a Salesman," Shelly fights back with bluster and bluff, with boasting and bravado." –NYTimes "Mamet's mastery of rhythm and language scorches the stage, leaving the audience breathless." A tension filled comedy-drama.

Monday 8:00pm - $7.00

Happy Endings Are Extra
Diversionary Theatre (University Heights)
Note: This play contains adult situations and nudity.
A lyrical and sensual exploration of sexual identity, set against the backdrop of Cape Town's unsleeping world of massage parlours, boys for rent and sex for cash. The play explores the relationship between Gabriel, a bisexual man, and Chantelle, his fiancee. Chantelle pretends to be unconcerned by Gabriel's sexual interests, but then he meets Chris, an underage rent-boy and falls in love with him. This mature, considered play deftly toys with its audience, allowing the viewer to be both compromised and affected by the desires and the sharp, confounding shifts in perspective and emotion that the play evokes.
