Hi Raquelle Rusuel,
At the beginning of this New Year, I find myself thinking about the year that has gone by and anticipating what’s ahead. 2006 had many changes for me. The biggest and most unexpected was coming to work at ChristianCinema.com. I’ve known most of the staff for several years and even lived in the home where the business was started! But I never imagined that I would work here.
Since joining the company in May, I’ve had a fast-track education about the film-making business. Now I know the difference between a producer and a director and can explain what that means in laymen’s terms. I understand more about the art of storytelling through filmmaking.
I find myself thinking more about the movies I watch; why did this scene make me feel that way? Why was this person chosen to play that character? And why was this story set in Arizona instead of Wyoming? It’s a fascinating study and I learn something new every
day. And now I have the fun of writing you each week, letting you know what's going on in Christian filmmaking, and what to watch for at the movies.
There are wonderful men and women who are using God-given talents to tell stories of God affecting ordinary people’s lives in very real ways. It’s been my privilege to meet several of them and hear their vision for their work. They are a passionate, energetic and BUSY group of people.
I look forward to sharing these interviews so you can get to know the people behind the films. I think you’ll find them as fascinating and interesting as the movies they make. If you’ve missed any of the filmmakers we’ve highlighted so far, you can go here to catch up.
Below is our staff’s list of the top Christian movies we saw in 2006. Some are brand-new releases, others came out in DVD
last year, and some are ones that we all want to watch time and time again. If you’re looking for something good to share with your friends and family, you’re sure to find it here! Thanks for supporting Christian filmmakers!
From the screening room,
Angela Walker
