Check out the newest issue of TransWorld SKATEboarding: DC am Sean Malto has earned the cover and the DC King of New York contest is the subject of this months feature article. This is the first cover for Sean, whos just 17 years old and got on DC in 2005. Sean didnt even know that hed be on the front until he checked his mailbox in Kansas City and saw the photo on the cover.
In general, its an honor to get the cover of a skate publication, let alone be an amateur and get a cover. I was surprised and very happy, said Sean.
Once you get past the cover, youll find this months feature article, entitled Kings of New YorkThe DC Team Moves to the Big Apple. As the title suggests, the 10-page article covers DCs King of New York contest that went down last September. All the words in the feature were scribed by DCs own Jeff Pang, and DC Photographer Mike Blabac snapped all the photos. Since the story comes straight from an inside-DC source, you get a nice behind the scenes view of the DC team and the NYC skate scene.
The DC King of New York article is a nice add-on to the King of New York website; we kept the site updated daily with photos and blogs during our activities in NYC. If you havent seen the site yet, follow this link.
From everyone at DC, Congratulations to Sean on the cover! The March 2007 issue of TransWorld SKATEboarding is starting to hit skate shops now.

RC BATTLES, SPILLS, THEN RECOVERS TO TAKE SECOND AT ANAHEIM 1
RC wore his reds--the color of the points leader--for A1.
Last weekend was Anaheim 1, the kickoff of the 2007 Ampd Mobile Supercross Season, and, in probably his last race at Anaheim 1, DCs Ricky Carmichael battled hard to take second place.
Anaheim 1, or A1, is notorious for being a super exciting race for the fans. First, theres a ton anticipation built up by the fans and media: speculations, predictions, and rumors about racers run rampant. Second, since its the season opener, every racer wants to win A1they all push extra hard as they battle for the checkered flag. Finally, A1 almost always sells out: Angel Stadium is filled to the brim every year with screaming SX fans.

RC slips by Reed on the inside in the main event.
In his heat race Ricky got off to a bad start but was quick to recover, working his way through the pack and taking the win. With the supercross stage perfectly set once again, the fans were ready for an amazing main event
and they got it. Ricky came out of the first turn just behind the leaders, but had worked his way into second by the end of lap two. Then there was quite a battle between the top three guys: Chad Reed, James Stewart, and Ricky. When Ricky got into the lead at about the halfway point the fans were brought to their feet! After a few more intense passes and crashes, Ricky collided with a tuff-block but managed to throttle it and recover. He then had too much speed entering the next turn, causing him to go down. However, in true Ricky fashion, he remounted and recovered to take second place.
Next up for Ricky and the Ampd Mobile AMA Supercross Series is Phoenix. The race will air on CBS at 12:30 PM ESTtune in for whats bound to be another great battle.

THIS WEEK ON DISCOVERY CHANNEL: COOKES NEW STUNT JUNKIES
Check out DCs Allan Cooke on the Discovery Channels Stunt Junkies this coming week. In his latest stunt for the show he recreatedand paid tribute tothe van backflip trick that his friend Colin Winkelmann attempted a couple years back.
Allan paid tribute to Colin by recreating the gnarly stunt.
Allans already done one stunt for the show this year: he went head to head with a helicopters 70 mph down-draft as he boosted out of a quarter pipe and ice picked the strut.
Allans recreation of the stunt was first attempted by the late Colin Winkelmann, one of Allans close friends and a DC BMX Team Member. The idea was to start with a van with a ramp on both the front and back end. Allan would pedal towards the van as the van drove towards him at 18 mph, then Allan would hit the ramp and backflip over the moving van. Ridiculous? Yep. A couple years back Colin broke a lot of bones when he originally tried that same trick while filming for a video with DC's Travis Pastrana.
So, in a fitting tribute to his friend Allan nailed the trick
the laws of physics meant that he actually landed 4 feet back from where he took off for the backflip! Keep an eye out for Stunt Junkies with Allan Cooke when it premieres on the Discovery Channel on Monday, January 15 at 10 PM. Repeat episodes will follow
