Technique Tips
Bent Over Row With Torso Rotation
This movement begins with a left turned-out lunge and torso facing the left leg. You will execute the bent over row with the right arm by pulling with the muscles in your back. At the same time, you will use your core muscles to rotate your torso to the front. Make sure that you are stable through the legs so that as you rotate, you get good motion from the hips and not the lower back.
Heel Walks In Supine Position On Floor
This movement begins in a supine position on the floor with knees bent and feet on the floor. You will then lift your pelvis to a bridge position by pushing down through the heels. Hold this position while you execute the heel walks forward and back. Make sure not to let your hips drop as you are walking. Staying on the heels keeps the calves from helping and puts more emphasis on the glutes and hamstrings.

Good Exercise Habits Lead To Good Lifestyle Habits
A healthy lifestyle is a combination of exercise, nutrition and stress management. If you’re attempting to improve your health, tackling all these areas can be a daunting task. Why not start with one and let the others fall into place? It really doesn’t matter which area you choose, but as might be expected, beginning with exercise is a wise course of action. More >
Staying True To Your Resolutions
Despite annual resolutions to get in shape, millions of individuals see their efforts fail time and time again. If you are among the 80 percent of Americans who struggle to achieve a consistent commitment to exercise, don’t lose hope. More >
Did You Know?
A Resolution Check-Up
In January of last year, we polled you on what lifestyle habit you would strive to incorporate in 2006. Your answers showed the following:
Working fewer hours - 2.2% Increasing family time - 3.6% Sleeping more hours - 5.6% Exercising regularly - 19.4% Eating healthfully - 26.4% All of the above - 42.8%
Were you able to keep your resolutions throughout the year? If you did, congratulations! And if not, no worries. Here are some tips to help you meet your fitness resolutions in 2007:
• Workout with a friend or spouse. It's easier to stay motivated and on track when you have a partner.
• Try working out in the morning. Statistics show that people who workout in the morning are more likely to maintain a workout schedule than people who workout in the evening.
• Add variety to your workout. Jazzercise makes this easy for you. With so many different routines, you will never get bored! On days you can't attend a Jazzercise class, try walking, cycling or swimming to keep your workout fresh.
• Gradually increase your level of activity. You will see more results if you increase your workout time and intensity each week. Don't be afraid to go out of your comfort zone.
• Use the Jazzercise Fitness Logs to record your daily and monthly workouts. Click here to download the Jazzercise Fitness Logs on jazzercise.com.
Keep in mind, there are now 6,800 Jazzericse Instructors teaching 30,000 classes weekly in the U.S. and 32 countries around the world. See you in class!
Healthier Food Choices
Source: PARADE Magazine
Looks like consumers are trying to make healthier food choices. According to PARADE magazine’s “What America Eats” survey, the majority of participants have made healthful changes in their food choices. How? They’re eating more vegetables, fruits, salads and chicken, are cutting back on sweets, and choosing smaller portions, low-fat foods or smaller meals. A surprising 63% responded that they would choose certain foods based on health rather than taste. Dr. Dean Ornish of the Preentive Medicine Research Institute in Sausalito, California reports people are seeing the connection between what they eat how healthy they are and how they look and feel. They are realizing that “simple changes in their diet can be more powerful than medicine or surgery – not just for living longer but for short-term benefits.”
