LIVING OFF THE LAND: CONFLICT CONTINUES OVER PROPOSED LEGISLATION THAT WOULD ALLOW BANKS INTO REAL ESTATE BUSINESS

BUILDERS USING STYROFOAM BLOCKS ON NEW HOMES
From a distance, 15 new homes springing up in downtown Oklahoma City north of Second Street and east of the railroad tracks look somewhat like whitewashed adobes. Upon closer inspection, however, the structures are actually white Styrofoam blocks filled with concrete, which will make up the walls of urban brownstone homes at Maywood Park, a Triangle Development project. The builders said the blocks create more energy-efficient homes as well as offer noise reduction. - Kelley Chambers

AG: OKLAHOMA BOXING COMMISSION CAN’T REGULATE TRIBAL MATCHES WITHOUT COMPACT
Tribes that want to hold a boxing event at a casino in Oklahoma can call up the boxing commission in Colorado or Texas or some other state and ask them to regulate the event. But if the tribe wants the Oklahoma Boxing Commission to regulate the event, they’ll need to negotiate a boxing compact with the state of Oklahoma. - Janice Francis-Smith

WEBB TAKES OVER AS INTERIM CHAIR OF CITY RESCUE MISSION
Officials said Thursday that Randy Webb will serve as acting president and chief executive officer of the City Rescue Mission after the Rev. Glenn Cranfield leaves the post on Dec. 31. The facility’s board of directors will begin a search on Jan. 1 to select a permanent successor for Cranfield. - Marie Price

The 30 Major League Baseball clubs average 75 promotional nights a season. America’s 160 minor league teams toss out another 31 each year. That adds up to about 13,500 games offering some 34 million collectables to entice the public and lure in fans.
