WHITE PAPERS

A View From the Top: Business Ethics and Leadership
The research presented in this paper provides some timely insights into the elusive dynamics driving board perspectives of the ethical dimensions of corporate life. It identifies some of the obstacles to a more robust engagement with modern day ethical challenges - challenges that arise from the idea that business is essentially a social institution that is responsible for its social and environmental footprint as well as its economic performance.

Embedding Ethics in Business and Higher Education: From Leadership to Management Imperative
Although recent episodes of corporate corruption triggered an avalanche of commentary and analysis, several vexing questions remain: What exactly went wrong and why? How extensive is the problem and how (if at all) is it related to the widespread instances of unethical conduct on college campuses? What needs to be fixed and what deserves to be abandoned? How much relief can we realistically expect from the recently enacted regulatory reforms? The objective of this paper is to improve the ethical performance of organizations - businesses and schools alike.

Transformational Leadership and Moral Reasoning
Terms such as moral and ethical leadership are used widely in theory, yet little systematic research has related a sociomoral dimension to leadership in organizations. The study presented in this paper investigated whether managers' moral reasoning was associated with the transformational and transactional leadership behaviors they exhibited as perceived by their subordinates. As expected, there was no relationship between moral reasoning group and transactional leadership behaviors. Implications for leadership development are discussed.
