Ian Mayor, Editor, writes:

With a new year beckoning and 2006 drawing to a close, it is the right
time to announce some important and very positive changes to Packtalk
that will enhance the effectiveness of the website even further.

In the New Year, Packtalk will become a dedicated section within
Manufacturingtalk, one of the longest established and largest of the
websites in the Pro-Talk stable. Manufacturingtalk, under the overall
editorship of Mike Page, currently carries almost 40,000 articles. And
two-and-a-half million visits this year. The site embraces everything
From the making of the product to its distribution and despatch.

Whilst packaging is clearly a strong industry in its own right, we
believe it is logical for Packtalk to become a specialist area within
Manufacturingtalk as the sector is anything but divorced from the
trends, influences and issues that have an effect on all areas of
manufacturing. Indeed, in these days of far more integrated
manufacturing systems and processes, we believe it would be wrong to
leave packaging separate from manufacturing per se.

Therefore, with effect from January 1, I am relinquishing my
editorship of Packtalk and my place as Packtalk Section Editor will be
taken by Huw Kidwell, an experienced and highly capable technical
journalist of many years standing. I shall continue my role as Editor
of sister website Printingtalk, which will continue to publish news,
technical articles, case studies and corporate announcements from the
world of printed packaging.

Similarly, other Pro-Talk sites, including Healthservicetalk, will
continue to cover those aspects of packaging materials, products,
machinery and equipment relevant to individual markets.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time launching and establishing Packtalk
and it has been a pleasure dealing with many, varied people from
different areas of the industry. I am deeply appreciative of the
support of all those companies that have become involved with the
website. I am sure all Packtalk users will derive even greater
benefits from the website under its new guise.

As part of Centaur Media plc, Pro-Talk is committing even greater
resources to developing its websites and information services to
ensure they continue to lead technical media with unparalleled
resources that allow companies seeking to do business together to
establish contact quicker than any other publishing medium.

I hope you find this issue of our newsletter useful.

In addition to the new products, news and ideas featured here, there
are hundreds more on our website and dozens more being added daily, so
do take a look if you can.

Alternatively, the full stories behind all the summaries and headlines
in this newsletter can be retrieved by email alone: see details below.

In the meantime, if you have any suggestions as to how we might make
the site or the newsletter better, email me directly.

Best wishes
Ian Mayor, Editor
