Jon Hobden, QA and Subcontracting Editor, writes:
It's that time of year again and already some of you will be winding
down, while others wrestle with end-of-year work requirements and
plans for the coming year. One of the effects of 'December syndrome'
is the current shortage of news from the subcontracting industry.
Many UK subcontractors are actually fit and strong but few are telling
the story. With so much bad press in the past and a common assumption
that manufacturing only happens overseas these days, it is important
to communicate what is available; it is still possible to find almost
any manufacturing or finishing process - often with better quality and
competitive pricing - right here. But many buyers target China, India
or Eastern Europe first, believing that only there will they get the
costs and delivery they need.
Manufacturingtalk's subcontracting section is alive and kicking and
providing sales leads for many manufacturing companies in all sectors,
including electronics, medical devices, aerospace and automotive.
Organisations like yours are benefiting from interest generated
through the Manufacturingtalk web site and newsletters - all for free.
We publish any relevant news, so please send us your press releases
and help us to help you. Tell us about the work you're doing, tell us
about products you have developed, tell us about company news or your
views on current issues. Of particular interest to us is information
about the processes and services offered by contract manufacturers and
subcontractors. All you need to do (if you haven't already) is
register as a contributor, then send in your press releases.
I hope you find this issue of our weekly newsletter useful. In
addition to the new products, news and ideas featured here, there are
hundreds more on our website and dozens more being added daily, so do
take a look if you can.
Alternatively, the full stories behind all the summaries and headlines
in this newsletter can be retrieved by email alone: see details below.
In the meantime, if you have any suggestions as to how we might make
the site or the newsletter better, email me directly.
Best wishes
