Everest Podcast
Podcast Pick. Ben Clark aspired to be the youngest climber to reach the summit of Mt. Everest, and his quest, documented by filmmaker Jon Miller, thrilled—and chilled—viewers of “Everest: The Other Side.” Since the 84-minute documentary used a miniscule portion of the 80 hours of tape he shot, Miller decided to share some of the rest with us in “The Rest of Everest Video Podcast.” Wrap your iPod in a parka, and enjoy the ascent.

Focusing on Eagles with Aperture

Aperture trial Vincent Laforet knows his way around the streets—and skies—of the city that never sleeps. And while taking thousands of other spectacular images ’round Gotham, he long cast an admiring gaze on one of the city’s star attractions.

The Chrysler Building.

It’s been shot many, many times before of course, but Laforet wanted to capture an image that would allow people to see it as never before. When the shot he wanted finally came to him, he immediately knew he’d need his MacBook Pro and Aperture to bring the shot to light. “Aperture proved pretty priceless,” exclaimed Laforet. “It just worked flawlessly, and with all that pressure on your shoulders, it’s nice to have things work.”

You can see the photograph—and learn how Aperture helped Laforet capture it—on the Aperture website.

A Life-long Musical Partner

Roger O'Donnell on MacBook Pro You’ve heard him play. If you’re a fan of The Psychedelic Furs, The Thompson Twins, The Cure, or one of the other bands he sat in with during the 80’s, you’ve enjoyed Roger O’Donnell’s work on keyboards.

Now O’Donnell’s gone solo, and instead of bandmates, he’s leaning heavily on his Mac and Logic Pro to help him hit the high notes. In fact, he recorded, mixed, and mastered his latest album, “The Truth in Me,” using Logic Pro and a trio of Macs.

No stranger to computers, O’Donnell has “been using Apple since the IIGS, and the Mac has been so enabling and liberating for me. It has been at the heart of everything I’ve created. It has been incredible—like a partner in my music.”

Now Playing in iTunes
Cars Not only has Lightning McQueen crossed the iTunes finish line, but unless heavy seas slow him down, we expect Captain Jack Sparrow to sail into port on December 5, as well.

Both movies join a wide variety of titles available from iTunes, including such popular films as “The 13th Warrior,” “Sweet Home Alabama,” “National Treasure,” “Remember the Titans,” and many others.

With a simple click, you can download movies into your personal iTunes library, or you can gift someone with a movie you know they’ll enjoy. With short films available for just $1.99 and feature films starting at just $9.99, the price is right. And in addition to watching movies on your Mac or PC, you can also download them to iPod and take them over the river and through the woods. Enjoy.

“Cars” available on iTunes. ® Disney/Pixar.
