Other features, such as DVD-Audio, SACD, and Divx playback add great audio and video flexibility. If you are looking for a new DVD player, to use with a flat panel HDTV and surround sound system, you should check out the 970. For less than $200 it performs as well as some more expensive units.

3) Panasonic DMR-ES45VS DVD Recorder - VCR Combination
Panasonic unveils its DMR-ES45VS DVD recorder/VCR combination. The DVD recorder section records on DVD-R/-RW/+R/+RW and DVD-RAM discs and also offers progressive scan and upscaling via HDMI output on playback. The VCR section is a standard VHS HiFi Stereo unit. A single tuner is provided for both DVD and VHS recording. This unit also has composite, S-video, and DV (iLink, Firewire) video and SD card inputs. The ES45VS has useful features for those wanting to replace that old VCR.
