    Power application

    Maximum clubhead speed occurs as the arms and club pass the body. You want to reach this speed through the ball, not before it, but making sure the body leads the arms and club into impact. If the arms race out of sequence and pass the body too son, the result is a weak, arms-only strike.

    To maintain the proper sequence, think about keeping your belly button ahead the club's butt end until impact. You should feel as if the club were getting stuck behind you in the downswing before passing your body and whipping through the ball.
