Public Review Begins for SAML Profiles and Extensions

The OASIS Security Services (SAML) TC has recently approved Metadata
Profile for the OASIS Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML), SAML
Metadata Extension for Query Requesters, and SAML Protocol Extension for
Third-Party Requests specifications as Committee Drafts and submitted
the package for public review. The TC has undertaken a number of work
items to build profiles, bindings, and extensions associated with SAML.
These are individual specifications on an OASIS Standards publication
track that is separate from SAML V2.0. The public review ends 27 Nov.

OASIS Adoption Forum Closing Panel Line-Up Confirmed

Moderated by Nigel Stanley, IT Security Practice Leader, Bloor Research,
the closing panel on open source and security standards will be a major
highlight of the third annual OASIS Adoption Forum, held on 27-29
November 2006 in London, UK. The distinguished panel will discuss issues
arising from the use of open vs. closed source/traditional software and
will air their views on how both approaches address important evaluation
criteria such as security, quality, support, TCO, in public sector
projects. Now confirmed for the Closing Panel are: Simon Phipps, Chief
Open Source Officer at Sun Microsystems; John Wailing, Director of
Technical Policy, Cabinet Office, UK Government; Carl Bate, VP, Chief
Technology Officer, Capgemini UK & Ireland; and John Gøtze, XML
Standards Specialist and Technical Writer.
