Communications Coordinator joins NMBA team
Hilary
Krupa, NMBA's new Communications Coordinator, joins the team with a background
in marketing, communications, business development and event planning. She
holds a Master's degree in linguistics from the University of Toronto, and is
currently pursuing a certificate in magazine publishing at
Ryerson University.
In addition to all communications, Hilary is also managing sponsorship

New Media Lab changes its identity to the Canadian Film Centre
Media Lab
Wednesday,
November 8, 2006, The Canadian Film
Centre (CFC) launched its new "CFC"
brand identity under the name, which saw the Habitat New Media Lab's
name change to the 'CFC Media Lab'.
The CFC's fresh brand identity is rolling out as the organization embarks
on an ambitious strategic plan that includes launching the new NBC
Universal Multiplatform Program. Developed by the CFC Media Lab, the
program‘s aim is to grow and innovate Canada's audio visual industry
and culture.

& Learn from the creators of Being Ian!
New
workshop offered at Média-Jeunes Conference in Montreal from November
30 to December 1
To
give the next generation of youth TV professionals an inside look at
the Canadian
industry, the Alliance for Children
and Television (ACT) has teamed up with the Shaw Rocket Fund to
offer animation students the chance to attend a workshop by the creators
of Being Ian, winner
of the
2006 Shaw Rocket Prize. This session—an ACT first—will be
held during the Média-Jeunes Conference in Montreal from November
30 to December 1. Students will also be able to present their personal
achievements and, who knows, maybe even land a job at Studio B Productions!

Bright
future predicted for Red Jade
Games development
to adopt collaborative model
Red
Jade, which formed from desolved DICE Canada after last month's acquisition
by EA, looks ahead at collaborative
development strategy and outsourcing. Former DICE Canada boss Fredrik Liliegren,
who co-established the new Red Jade , says he understands why EA closed
DICE. It was because the "principals behind [the decision] are in
line with [EA's] strategic objectives of centralising talent to maximise
the creative output."

believes future of media is in Interactive
CBS Corp created a new
division called CBS Interactive, a movethe corporation feels demonstrates
keen digital vision. "[T]he future of
media lies increasingly in the interactive media realm," says
CBS Corp chief executive Leslie Moonves. CBS will be eyeing acquisitions
in
the digital arena, stating that the company wanted to "buy the
next YouTube," said Moonves.
