Hot News Headlines
Looking for a computer he could use to run both Mac OS X and Windows, Julio Ojeda-Zapata (St. Paul Pioneer Press) “Today’s Macs,” he explains, “use PC-style Intel processors, which give them comparable performance and let them run PCs’ Windows operating system along with Apple Computer’s own Mac OS X. Mac prices are roughly comparable to PC prices, too. I test-drove Apple’s two top desktop machines: the Mac Pro tower and the 24-inch iMac. I found both computers to be tempting options for PC and Mac veterans alike.”

"When Gaddis Rathel needed to learn Spanish for his job, his boss gave him an unusual tool to help: a black video Apple iPod, preloaded with language lessons." And as Anjali Athavaley (Wall Street Journal) makes clear in "The Boss Puts the iPod to Work," Mr. Rathel is not the only such recipient.

Regarding the new Xserve featuring two dual-core Intel Xeon processors, Yuval Kossovsky (Computerworld) tells us, “I can say from the start that this stylish piece of hardware represents a significant improvement over its predecessor, which itself offered amazing value and high-powered performance. Apple went to great pains to deliver design and performance improvements that are evident on first look and use and will be welcomed by data center managers.”

All models also now feature FireWire 800 and 400 ports (one each) and double-layer burning SuperDrives.

Still just one inch thin and as lightweight as ever, the MacBook Pro also comes with a built-in iSight video camera for video conferencing on the go,(1) Front Row, and an Apple Remote. Order yours today.

Introducing iPod Red iPod nano (PRODUCT) RED Special Edition. It’s the newest member of the iPod family. It’s outrageously handsome. And it lets you enjoy your music while, at the same time, making a difference.

Like its siblings, iPod nano (PRODUCT) RED offers up to 24 hours of battery life, lets you carry up to 1,000 songs or 25,000 photos, and features our award-winning Click Wheel.(1) Available immediately at Apple online and retail stores for just $199, iPod nano (PRODUCT) RED comes with our redesigned earbuds and works with both Macs and Windows PCs.

(1) Rechargeable batteries have a limited number of charge cycles and may eventually need to be replaced. Battery life and number of charge cycles vary by use and settings. See www.apple.com/batteries/ for more information.

Rooting for Dr. Peters
Rooting for Dr. Peters Deep inside the hard enamel surface of your teeth lies soft tissue. When that tissue becomes inflamed—because of bacterial infection or trauma—your dentist will likely send you off to an endodontist for root canal treatment.

If just the thought of root canal makes you cringe, you should know that with the help of his Macs, microcomputed tomography, and VStudio MAX, Dr. Ove Peters has been investigating ways to make root canal more successful and less stressful for patients.

Powerful 3D visualization software, VStudio Max helps Peters accurately map the internal anatomy of teeth, giving him—and the students he teaches—a better understanding of dental anatomy and potentially leading to improved root-canal methodologies.
