[1] Rapid prototyping for fault-free glass bottles
Rockware's new modelling technology creates realistic 3D bottle
prototypes. The desktop rapid prototyping system produces 3D models
that capture all container data and its embossing detail. Replacing 2D
artwork to produce the finished mould Rockware now ensures that exact,
fault-free moulds form clean, crisp and clear relief on container
shoulders. In just a few hours customers can see a prototype of the
container with embossing, knowing that the end result will be
identical.

[2] Tray sealer advance 25% faster than other machines
Tray top sealing has been re-engineered with the new QX-1100
traysealer. The QX-1100 seals up to 200 trays per minute - 25% higher
than its competitors - making it the fastest twin *** traysealer in
the industry. Fast tooling changes, gentle product handling, compact
dimensions and low running costs provide perfectly presented packs for
supermarket shelves. Full checkweighing and gas analysis integration
for quality control is provided, together with a webcam and product
recognition camera.

[3] Why the packaging industry needs SPC - free application pack
Statistical process control (SPC) software is the best way to monitor,
analyse and identify process variations, so you can anticipate
potential problems, improve quality and to provide the reporting that
demonstrates compliance with supply chain requirements. This free
collection of articles shows how SPC achieves continuous process
improvement in the packaging industry.

[4] World-beating packaging system poised to sweep UK
The new Strubl KG Plug and Pack bagging machine, the world's most
flexible packaging system, is ideal for pre-made, plain, or printed
bags, with or without an integral heater. One system fits for all
products with bag sizes from 50mm x 50mm - 400mm x 800mm bags easily
and quickly set-up, producing decoline and functionline bags as
special bundles for trouble free packing. It comes with special
extension fingers which ensure top sealing quality.

[5] Case code printers improvements based on feedback
With new open systems printer software, new interface tools, Ethernet
and database connectivity, the C-Series plus coders improve
productivity, flexibility and quality, whilst meeting the needs of the
whole supply chain. It provides alpha numeric coding to a full case
decorating suite for enhanced, complex late stage pack coding. There
is also a new high capacity multihead ink system for multiple, high
volume applications.

[6] Inkjet system's colour labels with flexo quality
The Jetrion 4000 provides full-colour labels comparable to
flexography, with production costs lower than current digital colour
presses. Developed for short-medium-length narrow web production runs
and variable data imaging, the Jetrion 4000 digital inkjet colour
presses give label converters the advantages of UV inks with
immediate, low-cost change-over of digital printing. The press
utilises Jetrion's new UV4000 CMYK inks to print labels at fast
digital speeds on papers, films, foils and small caliper tag stocks.

[7] First thermoformed tamper evidence system from RPC
The first commercially launched thermoformed tamper evident system for
food packaging is now available from RPC Bebo Plastik. The systems is
more lightweight than any alternative injection moulded system, whilst
the polystyrene material provides impact resistance at deep-freeze
temperatures. At the same time, RPC Corby has introduced co-ex blow
moulded food containers that includes jars for high temperature
processing of fruit or vegetables, upside-down bottles for ketchups
and sauces, and sterilised juice bottles.

[8] Plastic bottle customising with almost any colour
Azlon's standard manufactured products can now be customised out of
pigmented polymers, with almost any bottle colour available. The Azlon
manufacturing facility has the capability to print directly onto the
bottles in either a semi-automatic or fully automated printing
process, meaning that customers can have their products or company
information printed directly onto Azlon's bottles. A labelling service
is also available, if required, for very small runs or a full colour
option.

[9] Launch of iStrip is another first for Timestrip
iStrip is a unique, inexpensive label that provides a clear indication
of temperature abuse in the cold supply chain for live vaccines and
most biopharmaceuticals. It works by recording the presence of very
low temperatures with an irreversible colour change, typically from
red to colourless. The nominal freeze point is 0C but iStrip can be
manufactured with a freeze point to match that of the product to which
it is applied.

[10] Shrink sleeving to suit diverse applications
Decorative Sleeves has introduced new ranges of security seals and
special decoration effects. Advanced anti-scuff inks are particularly
appropriate to help sleeved glass containers maintain pristine
appearance. Eye-catching effects, such as glow-in-the-dark,
pearlescent and glitter inks, are also now available. The company's
new range of security seals offers overt and covert features to
guarantee brand authenticity and prevent counterfeiting, including
hologram designs, special inks and the incorporation of micro-text,
perforations and unique number coding.
