This week on BBC World... Week commencing 12th August 2006

  News This Week
BBC World reports the very latest news stories from around the world, and this week will be continuing its extensive coverage of the Middle East conflict with correspondents across the region and at the UN in New York. Meanwhile the news team will also be reporting on Cuba's President Castro turning 80 on 13th August. While the leader recovers from his stomach surgery, the plans for his postponed full-scale birthday celebration continue for the end of the year.

  Baby Boomers

BBC World has a week-long series of programmes and reports to mark 60 years of the baby boomer generation, which coincides with the 60th birthday of one of the most famous baby boomers - Bill Clinton (pictured). There will be interviews throughout the week, and reports looking at the Netherlands which has one of the highest numbers of baby boomers; the ageing consumer market in Japan; the sexual revolution, and the USSR baby boomer generation among other stories.
