TechEd Australia 2006
Tablet PCs and Ultra-Mobile PCs attract developer attention
As developers and IT professionals are learning about new features in Windows Vista(TM), they are also learning that they can develop applications that take advantage of the growing use of mobile PCs. TechEd has been a great event for mobile PC hands-on experience. At TechEd Australia there was a Windows Vista mobility hands-on lab with seven different labs running on Tablet PCs. Talks, like the one Hugo Ortega presented, also included information about developing for Ultra-Mobile PCs (UMPCs). Here is a snip from Hugo's blog: Photo compliments of Hugo Ortega. This year TechEd Australia 2006 has closed with Tablet PC on its mind. Meandering through the Exhibit Hall, Hands-on Labs and listening to guest speakers you quickly realized that Tablet PC had in fact made a splash. Could it be attributed to the availability of several new products, like Ultra-Mobile PC (UMPC) and others; or perhaps the fact that clients were hounding developers for more Tablet PC-related applications? Whatever the reason the effect was evident across several aspects of the TechEd arena.
TechEd China is next, beginning September 14 in Shanghai. See the Microsoft TechEd 2006 Worldwide site for details.
