Glossy vs. Specular
DAZ|Studio allows you to control glossiness and specular values for your materials. So what's the difference?
Glossiness refers to the sharpness of the specular highlight. Use higher values for a sharp highlight, and lower values for a rough highlight distributed over a larger area.
Specular Strength refers to how bright the highlight is. 0% means no highlight, while 100% gives the brightest highlight for shiny objects. Adjust the color of the highlight with the Specular Color button.
Some examples: metal has high glossiness and specular values; smooth unpolished wood has low glossiness and specular values; latex has medium glossiness and fairly high specular values.
