Dear ***, |

August 24, 2006 |
With Chad Pennington getting a reprieve from playing, this was a battle of the backups. Chances are there will be some more battling after this. Each QB was effective in his own way, and the Jets as a team defeated the Redskins 27-14 on the road, thanks in large part to a 17-point second-quarter barrage. Not only did the quarterbacks step up, but Derrick Blaylock showed he can handle the load as the starting running back, rushing 10
times for 46 yards. Cedric Houston added 53 yards on 14 carries, and rookie Brad Smith took a double reverse in for a touchdown from 61 yards out.
