Amadeus
Lamb's Players Theatre (Coronado)
Court composer Salieri is haunted by one question-why would God gift the scandalous, crude boy Mozart with such divine musical genius, while only giving him-a devout, respected gentleman-such mediocre ability? Shaffer's thrilling, opulent, mesmerizing play is a modern masterpiece.
Thursday 7:30pm - $24.00

The Blue Room
GIN & Hamlet Productions

Chiang Kai Chek
Sledgehammer Theatre

Hannah & Martin
Laterthanever Productions
at Lyceum Space Theatre (Downtown)
"Hannah and Martin" brings to life the ethical dilemmas that arose in the years following the Holocaust. A sensual, deeply felt drama of ideas, it mines the dynamics of loyalty and desire to raise questions about forgiveness, academic freedom, and individual and collective responsibility. The play journeys through our collective past, as Jewish intellectual Hannah Arendt struggles to justify her enduring feelings for Nazi-sympathizing philosopher Martin Heidegger, her former mentor and sometime lover. As it explores the horrors of the Holocaust and its aftermath, Fodor's argumentative play bristles with subtle insights relevant in today's world.
Thursday 8:00pm - $16.5

Krapp's Last Tape/Not I
ion theatre
at New World Stage (Downtown)
"Krapp's Last Tape" and "Not I" are true in form to Beckett. Krapp, an aging man sits alone in a bare room listening intently to tapes he's recorded every year on his birthday--through laughter and bitter regret, he comes to realize the extent to which his life has veered from its expected course.... In "Not I," a single mouth suspended in darkness over the audience reveals the haunting details of a life in its final moments--do these lips belong to the woman in the story or to someone else? Haunting, hilarious and fun, these plays have awed audiences the world over.

Once of the 20th century's most searing works rings with new relevance as Mother Courage uses only her wits and sheer will to keep her family alive. With a dazzling display of music, burlesque and irony, Brecht's tale engages both our emotions and minds in a production that resonates for our time.
