Technique Tips
Alternating Back Layout
This movement is executed by slightly leaning the torso back as you slightly bend the supporting leg. You must engage the abdominals when you are leaning back. The layout is only as effective as the stability of the opposite leg. Work in the controlled range that the support leg permits. The lower back should not arch because the abdominals are eccentrically controlling the motion.
Supine Position, Hips Rotate Left With Right Leg Lift To Diagonal, Reverse
If the arm and shoulder on the side opposite of the rotation begins to lift off of the floor, the rotation is not occurring from the appropriate place in the spine. Only go as far as you can with the upper body fixed on the floor. Remember to engage your abdominals to ensure control of this entire movement.

Your first response to longer days and warm sunshine should be to break out the sunscreen. For maximum protection, apply it 15 to 20 minutes before you head outside, and use lotions that don’t lose their effectiveness when you break a sweat. More >
