1> TV Guide Mixes Together Pro and Amateur Bloggers
------------------------------------------------

With TV already one of the most popular topics for bloggers to talk about, it was only a matter of time before TVGuide.com started its own. Instead of starting just one, though, the publication fully embraced the medium by creating its own community with 60 of its own writers creating their own blogs.

Taking it a step further, the site has also enabled users to create their own blogs and connect with each other. With consumers already turning to TV blogs for reviews and recommendations about programs, it will be interesting to see how this mixing up of pro and amateurs pans out. Ultimately, will the source of the review matter less than the content itself?

2> 2TalkAbout Honda Brings Conversations Together
------------------------------------------------

UK-based 2TalkAbout has launched a community blog for consumers to get online and talk about favorite brands and products. First up is a blog about Honda. Interestingly enough, the automaker is sponsoring the blog even though there are plenty of negative comments to go with the positive. There's no word yet on other companies lining up to participate, but this may present an easy way for brands to experiment with fostering online conversations.

3> Yahoo! Goes Ape Over Monkey Buzz Stunt
------------------------------------------------

When promoting a new web site, the days of merely sending out a press release are clearly over. Here's a buzz stunt worth talking about. Yahoo! wanted to promote its new Yahoo Tech site, so it held an event guaranteed to generate buzz. Ordinary New Yorkers were matched up against a chimpanzee and tested on everyday tech tasks like taking a picture and printing it. The point of the event was to demonstrate how a chimp could be trained to do normal tech tasks and how human consumers could use the site to do the same thing.

4> Research: Social Networks Grow 47%
------------------------------------------------

Think social networking is a just a fad? Think again. According to the latest numbers from Nielsen//NetRatings, the audience for social networking sites grew to 68.8 million as of April 2006. That's a one-year jump of 47% from 46.8 million in April 2005.

Put another way, that's 45 percent -- nearly half -- of active Web users. MySpace led the way with a 367% growth rate (38,359 as of April 2006). Blogger and Classmates Online rounded out the top three with 18,508 and 12,865, respectively.
