Top Picks - Video Projectors - Top Picks For Entry Level to Upper Mid-Range Video Projectors  from your Home Theater Guide
The video projector has long been used as a presentation tool in business and commercial entertainment, as well as in some very high-end home theater systems. However, video projectors are becoming more available and affordable for the average consumer. For a sampling of video projectors in the entry-level to upper mid-price ranges, check out some of my current suggestions.

1) Marantz VP-12S4 DLP Video Projector
One of the best video projectors I have seen is the Marantz VP-12S4, which delivers stellar images on screen. The 12S4 features the Texas Instruments 16x9 720p Dark Chip 3, 4,000:1 contrast ratio, 2,000 hour lamp life, GENNUM GF9350 VXP video Processing, and a host of input options, including dual HDMI inputs. In addition to these impressive specs, the inclusion of a Konica-Minolta lens assembly definitely solidifies this projector as a top performer. The price of the 12S4 is $14,000.

2) Yamaha DPX-1100 DLP Video Projector
Yamaha not only has a great reputation in audio, but makes great video projectors. The DPX-1100 is equipped with the Texas Instruments 16x9 HD2+ Chip with 720p native pixel resolution. This projector delivers an incredible 4,000:1 contrast ratio at 800 lumens. Its motorized zoom lens is capable of high magnification, which allows for a large projected image in smaller spaces. The DPX-1100 offers all the input options necessary, including an HDMI input. The MSRP of the DPX-1100 is $12,500.

3) Infocus Screenplay 7205 DLP Video Projector
Infocus has been making video projectors for sometime, and their experience shows in its Screenplay 7205. The 7205 combines the HD2+ Mustang Chip from Texas Instruments with Faroudja DCDi video processing to deliver an exceptional projected image. With native pixel resolution of 1280x720 the 7205 can display HD sources in their best light. In addition, the 7205 features a contrast ratio of 2,200:1, a 1,100 lumens rating, and bulb life of up to 3,000 hours. The price of the 7205 is about $5,000.
