Ajax
6th @ PENN Theatre (Hillcrest)
Sophocles, the author of Antigone and Oedipus Rex, and arguably one of the best writers of all time, joins with local translator, Dr. Marianne McDonald, to bring the aftermath of Homer's "Iliad" and the Trojan War to the stage. Mad Ajax--the only major character in the Greek tragedies to receive no help from the gods--has just lost the Arms of Achilles to Odysseus, and his anger turns on Greece--or its cattle, as the Goddess Athena tricks him to his death. The first of Sophocles' plays, this tale of heroes, hero worship, and burial rights explains how one day can make or break a man. Starring ARTS TIX own Brandon Walker!
