BBC FOOTBALL PRESENTER MANISH BHASIN
The third round of the FA Cup is always a little bit special and this year I'm particularly excited.
On Saturday, I'll be at the KC Stadium hosting my first live FA Cup game as Championship side Hull City take on David O'Leary's Aston Villa.
It's the first of three live Cup games on BBC TV and it could well set the tone with a possible upset.
Hull have held their own in their first season in the Championship and will fancy their chances against a Villa side humbled by Doncaster in the Carling Cup.
But Villa go into the tie in good form and David O'Leary will be desperate to avoid the scenes at Belle Vue last November.
Later, the Match of the Day cameras will be at Kenilworth Road as Luton entertain Liverpool.
Like Hull, Luton have impressed in their maiden season in the Championship, but with Rafael Benitez perhaps guilty of underestimating the Cup last year (when going out to Burnley at this stage) I feel the Reds will be too strong.
All the very best too to the two non-league sides still left in the Cup in Tamworth and Northwich Victoria.
Sunderland and Stoke won't need telling their reputations will be at stake.
And please spare a thought for the most unlucky club in the competition.
My team Leicester take on Spurs on Sunday live on BBC ONE, in a repeat of the 1961 Cup final - one of four Cup finals they have walked away from empty-handed!
Fingers crossed this could finally be Leicester's year!
Have a great weekend, and be sure to follow the FA Cup action on TV, radio and online,
Manish. |
