This is a new production release of the MySQL Community Edition in the 5.0 series. Additional changes include:
- The InnoDB, NDB, BDB, and ARCHIVE storage engines now support spatial columns.
- Added a --hexdump option to mysqlbinlog that displays a hex dump of the log in comments. This output can be helpful for replication debugging.
- Numerous bug fixes

Tips & Hints
There is no direct support for dynamic declaration of details such as column or table names in MySQLs stored procedures. However, by utilizing user variables (which have been around for a while) and prepared statements (introduced in MySQL 4.1), we can do some trickery to get the results we want.

In this example, we are going to develop a BIRT listing report. We will use a bugzilla database installed on MySQL as our data source. What we would like to show in this report is a listing of all current bugs in the system.
